Railway infrastructure comprises stable, artificially constructed facilities and equipment, which are designed for efficient railway transport. Railway infrastructure comprises the entire rail network, with the superstructure and substructure, and associated facilities, such as bridges, culverts, tunnels and viaducts, the signaling and safety devices, power supply substations, train stations and stops, train formation facilities, marshalling yards, refueling facilities, and other facilities for preparing and maintaining trains.
The railway infrastructure in Slovenia is state-owned, which is why it is considered public railway infrastructure. The public railway infrastructure is operated by Slovenske železnice – Infrastruktura, d.o.o, which has concluded an agreement on maintaining and managing the public railway infrastructure, and an agreement on managing the traffic on this infrastructure with the Republic of Slovenia. Public railway infrastructure in Slovenia comprises the entire railway tracks network, including said facilities and devices, with the exception of railway infrastructure at terminals.
The public railway infrastructure network in the Republic of Slovenia comprises 615km of main and 612km of regional railway lines. The main railway lines in the public railway infrastructure in Slovenia are:

line E 69: Ormož–Murska Sobota–Hodoš–state border.
The majority of main lines have two tracks. The lines between Koper and Divača on corridor V, and the ones on the route border with Austria–Jesenice–Ljubljana on corridor X have one track.
The total length of lines in the public railway infrastructure of the RS is 1,227km, 897km of which have one track and 330km of which have two tracks.
