The Regulation (EU) 913/2010 of the European Parliament and the Council of 22 September 2010 lays down rules for the establishment and organization of international rail corridors for competitive rail freight with a view to the development of a European rail network for competitive freight and it sets out rules for the selection, organization, management and the indicative investment planning of freight corridors.
Regulatory bodies play a significant role to avoid discrimination, particularly in allocation of pre-arranged train paths. For this purpose rail regulatory bodies of Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia and Hungary signed Cooperation agreement, which determines their competences, activities and principle of cooperation on Rail freight corridor 6 (Almeria-Valencia/Madrid-Zaragoza/Barcelona-Marseille-Lyon-Torino-Milano-Verona-Padova/Venezia-Trieste/Koper-Ljubljana-Budapest-Zahony).
